Message from WEIO's Rome Headquarter

"Efficient road and sea communications allowed goods to be traded througout the Roman Empire and far beyond its frontiers"

WEIO patronages a new Museum devoted to international trade following a step by step approach. The initiative is going to be promoted starting from the Euro-Mediterranean geo-economic and geo-political context represented by Western and Eastern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

43 currently indipendent States were trading members of the old Roman Empire at the Age of Emperor Trajan. Further 17 countries in Southern Asia (e.g. India), South-East Asia (e.g. Malaysia, Viet Nam), Far East (e.g. China) were permanently connected to the Euro-Mediterranean Area by Roman traders mainly through commercial vessels.

In fact, the Euro-Mediterranean Area has direct connection with the evolution of the commercial and cultural exchanges of the Ancient Rome in the Republican and Imperial Age.

In this regard, the Museum will be characterized by 12 main sectors of interest for exporters and importers who will be able to compare trade relations in the past, the present as well as trends of future export import businesses.

All the aspects concerning auxiliary services related to foreign trade will be considered, including air-sea-land transportation and logistic in connection with multisectorial electronic marketplaces.

The business community, Trade Promotion Organizations and other Foreign Trade bodies, International Institutions and Professionals are warmly welcomed to participate in the development of the project towards a common effort oriented to achieve the goal of setting up step by step the new Multimedia Museum of International Trade.
